Early one evening, while walking down the hill, I noticed a middle school with its Iron Gates tightly closed and locked. This scene led me to reflect on the way in which many people lead their lives. They attend school and are caged within the confines of the school gates, they find a partner, enter into a relationship or get married, and are caged in by that relationship, they go to work and are caged in by the constraints within the company, they die, and are caged in a box.
Being caged is due to not only external factors but also by emotional and ego mind factors. Throughout our lives, we seem to be building barriers and caging ourselves in to our own little world and proudly locking ourselves in!

I feel I am sometimes by the bureaucracy and greed of the few. But when the guards are not looking I sneak out of my cage and wonder freely in my own space searching for a way to free al those who are caged !

Another aspect of the cage of education has been shown to us by members of family who went to school, 6th form College, University to become teachers and have never left the cage with all its energy sapping, loco parentis responsibility etc., it’s a heavy burden to bear with little if no outside influence of the wider world. There is a lot to be said for Gap Years! Love David
