Fragility of Life

Published 23/02/2013 by inspiringyourspirit

The following post was written by a dear blogging friend of mine Sue Dreamwalker http://suedreamwalker.wordpress.com The subject matter is very dear to my heart and it’s words are so meaningful and important not only for the survival of these species but also for the survival of all species here on Mother Earth including the survival of humanity itself!

We notice these posts, articles and images on the internet, in magazines and newspapers and on the television each and everyday but once we turn the page, click on another icon on our computers or switch channels on our TV’s all is quickly forgotten…because we think ‘Someone Else will Do Something About It’….but they never do…It Is Our Responsibility to Make Change 😦

We must take note and come together as one to make a change so that we have a planet to live on for our lifetime and for the lifetimes of our children and their children.

Do we really understand the fragility of Life?

Have we ever thought of consequence and all the Strife?

So we can run around in cars and have our pretty things

Have you ever thought of all the pain we Human’s bring?

1140982.medium

Have you ever considered just how you’d feel if orphaned you were left

As your mother became a trophy with her skin stripped from her chest?

Did you never spare a thought for the Ocean and her depths?

A dumping ground for all our waste no longer we respect,

garbage-ocean

And have you thought how hard it is to find enough to eat

When driven from your home

Have you ever wondered how far that you would roam?

bears-in-town_682_1146959a

And did you never think as the Ice melts in your drink

Of the Polar Bears home that in the Ocean sinks..

It’s time to understand that we cannot turn away

For we are each responsible for the world we live today

We humans have tipped the scales as we destroy with tools of greed

It’s time to re-awake and replant a caring seed.

The Now

Published 20/02/2013 by inspiringyourspirit

In which tense are you living in now?

It’s ultimately your choice, so do ‘YOU’ need to make a change to ‘YOUR’ life?

Lao Tzu is a particular favorite of mine and I have studied his writings but he is only one of many great sages that can offer you great advice and help you bring your thoughts into the NOW.

The Now is where you need to be, you need to be happy and content with who you are and where your life is taking you, if not then you need to make a change.

I wish you happiness, love and peace.

Jade Buddha Temple

Published 14/02/2013 by inspiringyourspirit

Nimen Hao 你们好 Hi Everyone 🙂

May and I are off to the Jade Buddha Temple in Shanghai today, today is the 5th day of January in the Chinese Nongli Calendar so the fifth day of the new year is the God of Wealth’s birthday.

In northern China, people eat jiǎozi (simplified Chinese: 饺子; traditional Chinese: 餃子), or dumplings, on the morning of pòwǔ (破五). In Taiwan, businesses traditionally re-open on the next day (the sixth day), accompanied by firecrackers. It is also common in China that on the 5th day people will shoot off firecrackers to get Guan Yu’s attention, thus ensuring his favor and good fortune for the new year., it’s also February 14th Valentines day in the Gregorian Calendar (Western Calendar) so we have plenty to pray for 🙂

The Jade Buddha Temple (Chinese: 玉佛禅寺; pinyin: Yùfó Chán Sì, literally Jade Buddha Chan Temple) is a Buddhist temple in Shanghai, China. As with many modern Chinese Buddhist temples, the current temple draws from both the Pure Land and Chan traditions of Mahayana Buddhism. It was founded in 1882 with two jade Buddha statues imported to Shanghai from Burma by sea. These were a sitting Buddha (1.95 metres tall, 3 tonnes)

and a smaller reclining Buddha representing Buddha’s death.

The temple now also contains a much larger reclining Buddha made of marble, donated from Singapore.

I will pray for Peace, Happiness, Compassion, Good Health, Friendship and Love.

The legend of the serpent and the firefly

Published 06/02/2013 by inspiringyourspirit

serpent-and-firefly_Traditional-Tales_Humanity-Healing

Once upon a time there was a serpent that was persecuting a firefly. The poor firefly fled from the ferocious predator, using all the energy created by fear to speed him along.

The serpent, however, never considered giving up his pursuit, so he chased the poor firefly and made him run away, and again chased him and made him run away  the second and the third day.
The ordeal continued, until the end of the third day.
Without the strength to continue, the firefly stopped and asked the Serpent, “May I ask you three questions?”
The Serpent said with a haughty tone, “I’m not used to answering anyone, but since I am going to devour you, you can ask me anything”.
1) “Am I part of your food chain?”
“No” answered the Serpent
2) “Did I hurt you or provoke you in any way?” asked the firefly.
“No” repeated the serpent.
3) “So, why do you want to devour me?”
“Well”, said the Serpent, “because I can’t stand to see your shining light.”

……….
In your life, there will always be “serpents” that will come about and try to steal your light and your dreams;….. you will have two options:
1) You can stop shinning your light, so no serpent will be after you any longer

or

2) You can let your light shine even brighter and learn how to deal with people like that.

The Choice is yours…Which will you choose?

The Most Important Question You Can Ask

Published 20/01/2013 by inspiringyourspirit

382161_338406259600595_1976393801_n

If you are working on your spiritual self the most important question is –

“What do I feel about me…right now?”

Having self-esteem means learning to love the one you see in the mirror first, and then taking care of the rest of the world.

Having self-esteem means… I think loving thoughts about myself.
Having self-esteem means… I behave in loving ways towards myself.
Having self-esteem means… I react in loving ways towards myself.
Having self-esteem means… My actions are consistently loving towards myself.
Having self-esteem means… I trust myself and my judgement.

If you feel good about the one you see in the mirror… then reward the child within with a small treat… something special 🙂

If you feel bad about yourself… then don’t beat yourself up, don’t fall prey to guilt and shame, just see in your minds eye that next time you’ll do things differently.

You’re not perfect, no one is perfect, and you came to this planet as the Divine essence of God to learn… and love yourself at the same time.

That’s the most important aspect of self-esteem… learning to love yourself as you learn.

So Love Yourself and start enjoying what this life has to offer 🙂

Change is the Prelude to Growth

Published 10/01/2013 by inspiringyourspirit

Change:

You cannot start the next chapter in your life if your keep re-reading the last one….

Running away from any problem only increases your distance from the solution. The easiest way to escape from the problem is to Solve it!..

The Past is where you learned the Lesson.
The Future is where you Apply the Lesson…

What you Can Become depends upon what you Can Overcome…

Your only obligation in any lifetime is to be true to yourself.

The Waves of Love

Published 04/01/2013 by inspiringyourspirit

Waves_

Love flows into a clear mind
Ripples outward to those in need.

Your kind deeds, your loving thoughts
Travel invisible pathways,
Elevate rulers and ruled alike
A world, even worlds away.
Likewise, your faith
May light a thousand cities
Endowing both the kindly and the cruel.

Strength in one is strength in all
And light in one brings light to all.
The truth about yourself is healing.
Don’t hold anything back.

Happy New Year sent with Love.

Published 31/12/2012 by inspiringyourspirit

Love

Well here we are at the end of yet another year, another year filled with challenges, sadness, uncertainty, conflict, natural disasters, famine and wars. But yet we have managed to find our way though, each day trying our best for the good of humanity, holding out our hands to help others manage their grief, their heartache and their sadness, we have used our compassion to assist those in need and offered our love through our smiles, hugs, light and energy.
2013 I’m sure will be filled with more of the same such challenges but we will continue to reach out one day and to one person at a time, reach out our hands and extend our hearts to others and through our love and kindness make a difference to all those we come into contact with.

May I wish you all a Very Happy New Year and may the Light of Love and Compassion be with you each and every day throughout 2013.

Play Again Video

Published 20/11/2012 by inspiringyourspirit

This worries me deeply.

Please watch this short video and pass it on to your friends.

We need to try and encourage our children to get out more, to break away (at least for short periods of time) from their addiction to technology, to on-line gaming, to fast food, to one-dimentional communications via text messaging and social networking in the place of real communication and for them to enjoy mother earth and the wonders that it brings to our lives, to feel the wind in their hair and the warmth of the sun on their skin, to hear the sounds of nature and smell the scent of the flowers and trees.

Nature is truly fantastic, it can be found or re-created everywhere, even in the smallest inner city areas, even in small window boxes on a high-rise apartment building window or balcony. We owe our existance to it and we need our children to cherish it and for them to help educate the next generation and the generations to come to also enjoy it and protect it.

Please do your best to help promote this video and all it stands for.

Kindness

Published 15/11/2012 by inspiringyourspirit

Kindness in words creates confidence, Kindness in thinking creates profoundness, Kindness in giving creates Love.

Kindness can restore hope to many hearts through a single act.

Kind words can be short and easy to speak but their echoes are truly endless.

Spiritually, Kindness is also considered to be one of the seven Divine Virtues.

We need to assume our responsibilities on bringing kindness and compassion to this world,
to bring justice,
to bring peace
and true fraternity among men.

Today, give a stranger one of your smiles. It might be the only sunshine he sees all day.

If you want others to be happy, practice compassion. If you want to be happy, practice compassion.

Kindness is the language which the deaf can hear and the blind can see.

Words of Wisdom

Published 08/11/2012 by inspiringyourspirit

Knowing others is to be clever.
Knowing yourself is to be enlightened.
Overcoming others requires force.
Overcoming yourself requires strength.

Lao Tzu

A Person of high virtue is not conscious of virtue
and therefore possesses virtue.
A person of little virtue tries to be virtuous and
therefore lacks virtue.

Lao Tzu

Those who look only at themselves see little.
Those who justify themselves are not distinguished.
Those who brag have no merit.
The work of prideful people will not endure.

Lao Tzu

When desires are restrained there will be peace,
and then all under heaven will be at rest.

18 Rules for Living

Published 05/11/2012 by inspiringyourspirit

At the start of the new millennium the Dalai Lama issued eighteen rules for living.

1. Take into account that great love and great achievements involve great risk.
2. When you lose, don’t lose the lesson.
3. Follow the three Rs: 1. Respect for self 2. Respect for others 3. Responsibility for all your actions.
4. Remember that not getting what you want is sometimes a wonderful stroke of luck.
5. Learn the rules so you know how to break them properly.
6. Don’t let a little dispute injure a great friendship.
7
. When you realize you’ve made a mistake, take immediate steps to correct it.
8. Spend some time alone every day.
9. Open your arms to change, but don’t let go of your values.
10. Remember that silence is sometimes the best answer.
11. Live a good, honourable life. Then when you get older and think back, you’ll be able to enjoy it a second time.
12. A loving atmosphere in your home is the foundation for your life.
13. In disagreements with loved ones, deal only with the current situation. Don’t bring up the past.
14. Share your knowledge. It’s a way to achieve immortality.
15. Be gentle with the earth.
16. Once a year, go someplace you’ve never been before.
17. Remember that the best relationship is one in which your love for each other exceeds your need for each other.
18. Judge your success by what you had to give up in order to get it.

Stop, Listen, Smell and Feel.

Published 01/11/2012 by inspiringyourspirit

The sun is shining brightly, the sky is clear and blue, it’s a beautiful morning here in Shanghai. I can hear the sounds of children laughing as they play in the kindergarten below, the distant hum of cars travelling on to their destinations and the birds singing in the trees.

Oh I have so much to be grateful for, my life is filled with love from family and friends, I live with joy happiness and peace, so why do we allow our Ego’s (our inner voices) to take control of our lives?

‘This is bad, he/she is bad, don’t do that, don’t go there, I hate this or that, rushing here, rushing there, never stopping to take time out and look at what is all around us, taking a moment to feel the breeze on our face, the warmth of the sun on our skin, to touch and feel the delicate texture of flowers, trees or grass.

Stop! Take five minutes to look, listen, smell and to feel…

Take a look at the faces around you, what do you see? Some faces are filled with happiness, love, joy and peace, smiling faces, they exude happiness in their voices as they speak, they take the time to interact with others, to communicate and enjoy their day, that moment in time because it’s special and it will never be repeated….
While others have a stern look, furrowed brows, contempt and anger in their eyes and mistrust for everyone they meet, they rush here and there, barging into people as they go, without a care in the world!…..

Which do you prefer?…It’s your choice, you are in control of your life, your future and your destiny…. Choose a life of love, compassion and happiness, a life of joy, of communication, live in the moment and enjoy everything that comes to you for what it is…a gift from a higher place, from your God.

Start today with a smile, greet your day with thanks, be grateful for what you have and start living your life to the full.
