Sticks and Stones Can Break My Bones But Words Will Never Hurt Me……

We we taught this rime when we were young children, back in the day, long before computers and social media…and how Wrong these words are!….

Words can be extremely hurtful and cause great pain and often lead to self harm and in the worst cases even suicide.

Words my friends have the power to hurt and to cure so we must learn to use our words carefully and to surround ourselves with words of joy, of happiness, of love, and compassion because these words were created for a reason, to raise our energy, to raise our spirits, to raise our awareness for good and to help us live lives filled with joy.

My Love, My Smile and My Positive Energy goes out to each and everyone of you today 🙂

My friends, I am so blessed to have spent my day swimming and lazing with these beautiful turtles on the Big Island of Hawaii. I have seen them before but this time was very different, I guess I’m so much closer to them this year from a energy perspective, it was as though we were communicating through thought.

These stunning creatures need protecting for our children and grandchildren to enjoy.

Wow, i’m still buzzing now 🙂

Namaste to you all with love and light and the fantastic energy of Hawaii.

Self-Awareness to help Awaken Humanity

Wise ; Wise words from Lao Tzu, and I am one in which needs to take note of them and make deeper observations to my own self-awareness.

Each and every day I try so hard to help awaken humanity, I care so much about the environment that we live in, the future for our children, the wars raging on all around the world, the hunger, the discrimination, the object poverty, the cruelty and selfishness inflicted on the many by the few whom have control that it breaks my heart. I fight off tears all day long due to the suffering I see all around me, and I feel the hurt that is going on in our world….But, I myself must dig deeper if I want to help make change happen, I must try harder, I must reflect upon myself, seek out my own inner darkness and negativity and replace them with light and greater positivity.

It is true that the greatest gift we can give to this world is Our Own Self-Transformation, I still have a long way to go, I do get bogged down with details, I procrastinate too often and try to solve all the problems of this world at once. I am in fact my own worse enemy. I need help, I need rest and I need to focus and make inner change happen before I can continue on with my journey.

My dear friends, thank you all for for follows, your continued support and you love and light 🙂

Hunger.

Hunger kills more people every year
Than Aids, Malaria and Tuberculosis combined.

Every year, authors, journalists, teachers, researchers, schoolchildren and students ask for statistics about hunger and malnutrition. To help answer these questions, here is a list of useful facts and figures on world hunger.

870 million people in the world do not have enough to eat. This number has fallen by 130 million since 1990, but progress slowed after 2008.

The vast majority of hungry people (98 percent) live in developing countries, where almost 15% of the population is undernourished.

Asia and the Pacific have the largest share of the world’s hungry people (some 563 million) but the trend is downward.

If women farmers had the same access to resources as men, the number of hungry in the world could be reduced by up to 150 million.

Poor nutrition causes nearly half (45%) of deaths in children under five – 3.1 million children each year.

One out of six children — roughly 100 million — in developing countries is underweight.

One in four of the world’s children are stunted. In developing countries the proportion can rise to one in three.

80 percent of the world’s stunted children live in just 20 countries.

66 million primary school-age children attend classes hungry across the developing world, with 23 million in Africa alone.

WFP calculates that US$3.2 billion is needed per year to reach all 66 million hungry school-age children.

Homeless.

“Everyone has the right to a standard of living adequate for the health and well-being of himself and of his family, including food, clothing, housing and medical care and necessary social services, and the right to security in the event of unemployment, sickness, disability, widowhood, old age or other lack of livelihood in circumstances beyond his control.” – Universal Declaration of Human Rights, article 25, par. 1
Homelessness- What it is?
Homelessness is the condition and social category of people who lack housing, because they cannot afford, or are otherwise unable to maintain, a regular, safe, and adequate shelter.
Who are Homeless?
A homeless person is defined into three categories.
In general it is said about an individual who lacks a fixed, regular, and adequate nighttime residence; and an individual who has a primary nighttime residence that is
1. A publicly supervised or privately operated shelter designed to provide temporary living accommodations (including welfare hotels, congregate shelters, and transitional housing for the mentally ill);
2. An institution that provides a temporary residence for individuals intended to be institutionalized; or
3. A public or private place not designed for, or ordinarily used as a regular sleeping accommodation for human beings.
Homelessness- The Fact
Housing is a basic human need, yet the statistics of United Nations Commission on Human Rights in 2005 notes that, an estimated 100 million people -one-quarter of the world’s population- live without shelter or in unhealthy and unacceptable conditions. Over 100 million people around the world have no shelter whatsoever. The health consequences of this level of homelessness are profound. The Action Aid in 2003 had found out that there were 78 million homeless people in India alone. CRY (Child Relief and You) in 2006 estimated that there are 11 million homeless children live on the street. The statistics are grim. What is worse is that very little is known of what it means to be part of such horrific numbers.
Impact of Homelessness on Children
According to a report published by the United Nations, there are 150 million children aged three to 18 years on our streets today—and their numbers are growing fast. 40% of the world’s street children are homeless, the other 60% work on the street to support their families. The UNICEF, World Health Organization (WHO) and several NGO’s have got disputing figures in their account of street children. According to CRY(Child Relief and You) about 60 million Indian children under the age of 6 live below the poverty line. The problem has become particularly acute for homeless children, one-fifth of whom receive no education.
According to Indian Embassy figures, there are 314,700 children living on the streets of Bombay [Mumbai], Calcutta [Kolkata], Madras [Chennai], Kanpur, Bangalore and Hyderabad, and another 100,000 live in New Delhi; however, these numbers may not reflect the true picture, as accurate census information is difficult to collect. In truth, millions of India’s children are denied even the most basic rights of survival and protection. Children living on the streets are especially vulnerable to victimization, exploitation, and the abuse of their civil and economic rights.

Homeless

These statistics are just the tip of a very big iceberg, we as a civilization are allowing these conflicts and these atrocities to go on, year after year, whilst we carry on with our daily lives, wanting more, buying more, wasting more….’I need a bigger house’, ‘I need to buy more clothes’, ‘I want the supersized meal with extra fries’, ’I need the Latest iPhone.. Because I just do!…

We live in a throw away society and that my dear friends also includes people, they are out of sight from the majority of us so therefore out of mind, we don’t have to drive or walk past them every day, we don’t have to see their suffering, smell their living conditions or watch them eat whatever scraps they can find…We have just lost sight, lost our way and lost our compassion for our brothers and sisters.

I myself have been there, I have had the wealth, the fast cars, the huge house, the trinkets that money can buy, the expensive food on the table…wanting for nothing but at the same time fighting for more and more and more…..but then reality hits…..BANG….like a smack in the face, a loved one is ill, diagnosed with cancer and there is NOTHING you can do, all the money in the world CANNOT help, the cars, the house, the clothing, the food is all meaningless….then that love is taken away from you…..!

Money, CANNOT buy you Happiness but it can help us change the world, it could be used for good, it can help millions of people, it can stop wars, it can eradicate famine and it can provide shelter for our global brothers and sisters……

So my dear friends, is it not the right time to ‘Make Change’?

We can do so much together….

One Voice at a time.

We can make a difference.

A Peace of Single Thought

Published 02/09/2013 by inspiringyourspirit

“The peace of the world starts with a single thought. We can all think peace. The next step is to do peace. That is our gift to the world.”

“Our planet is perched on a precipice. We stand at a cross roads of history. Which way will we turn? There is serious conflict raging in many quarters of our world and even in our own cities and families. Peace begins with a single thought. If our mind is full of confusion and inner conflict we will see a world full of confusion and conflict. When are minds are clear and peaceful we see a beautiful and peaceful world. Our external world is a result of our very thoughts. We must deal with the conflict in our own minds not by elimination but by entering into a new relationship with our inner enemy. When we make peace with our minds we bring peace into our immediate outer environment. We are then ready to do peace.”

Buddhist Chanting and Rain Drops

Published 18/08/2013 by inspiringyourspirit

images

Once a young monk fell asleep in the Meditation Hall while the monks were chanting the Buddha Name. The monks had been there in the hall since the early hours of the morning with the chant of the word “Amitofuo” resounding through the temple. Unceasing, the chant continued into the late afternoon.

When the Master noticed a young monk asleep he asked him: “Why are you sleeping during the chanting, my son?” “Master, I do not see the purpose. I have chanted and chanted and nothing has changed. Maybe I am not suited to this practice.” “Then come with me replied the Master.” The kindly Master led the young novice to his room. “Bring me your water glass”, demanded the Master. The novice went inside his room and returned with his glass full of water. The Master took the glass and went to his office. Taking a calligraphy brush he rolled it with some water into the ink stone then dipped the brush into the young monk’s glass of water. Suddenly there were swirls of black in the clear water. The young monk stood transfixed as the clear water turned completely black.
“Now, my son, remove the ink without tipping out or refilling the glass. If you can do this then you will have wisdom of the dharma.”

The young monk seemed to fumble for words now wishing he had not fallen asleep during the chanting and wondering what punishment the Master was going to mete out. “But Venerable Master I cannot do this.” “Good reply”, came the Master. Then the old Venerable took the novice back outside to a place just under the eaves of the tiled roof of the monks’ quarters. The old Venerable look up then down as if to be positioning the glass. Then with deliberate precision he placed the glass full of inky black water on walk way. “There, my son. Sit here and contemplate and meditate on the glass until I tell you to move.” The young monk did just as the Venerable had asked him.

One hour passed . . . then two. . . then three. The young monk focused with concentration on the glass of inky water contemplating how he could remove the dark water without tipping it out. While doing so large dark rain clouds began to amass overhead. There were distant rumblings of thunder. Soon small droplets of rain began to fall then a deluge broke loose. Rain began to fall in torrents upon the tiled roof sending streams into the spouting. Before long droplets of rain water began to fall into the glass precisely where the Master had positioned it. Droplet after droplet after droplet the drops fell into the glass. Soon the glass was full to the brim and began to over flow with the inky water gradually being displaced. Each raindrop sounded like the “tock” of the ‘muyu’ – the wooden fish the monks strike in time with the chanting. The young monk watched with glee as gradually the inky water was displaced by the droplets of cool clear rain water.

Eventually the rain stopped. The young monk sensed the presence of the Master and looked up at him with a glowing smile. The Venerable smiled in turn knowing that enlightenment had come upon the novice. “The rain removed the inky water, Master” came the novice. “And removed the ignorance from your mind as well” returned the Master.
